SkinAmp FAQ

Winamp 2 in your browser, free YouTube music, 100,000+ skins. Answers below.

What is SkinAmp?

SkinAmp is a free web app that brings the classic Winamp 2 music player to your browser. Stream any YouTube track, switch between 100,000+ community-made Winamp skins, or generate your own skin with AI — no installation required.

Can I use Winamp in a browser?

Yes. SkinAmp is Winamp 2 running natively in your browser, powered by the open-source Webamp project. Playback controls, the playlist, the visualizer, and skin loading all work in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop and mobile — no plugins or downloads needed.

Is SkinAmp free?

Yes. Streaming music, browsing the skin library, and loading your own skins are completely free. Optional AI-generated custom skins are a small paid add-on, but you never need them to use SkinAmp.

How many Winamp skins are available?

Over 100,000 classic Winamp 2 skins, sourced from the community-maintained Winamp Skin Museum. Open the Skins icon on the desktop to browse, preview, and switch between them in real time.

Does SkinAmp play free YouTube music?

Yes. Click the Music icon to search YouTube, then queue any track into the Winamp player. Audio streams directly from YouTube — no account, no downloads, no ads from us.

Do I need to install Winamp?

No. SkinAmp runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install, no plugins to enable, and no account required for free playback.

What's the difference between SkinAmp and Webamp?

Webamp is the open-source JavaScript engine that reimplements Winamp 2 in the browser. SkinAmp is a full product built on top of Webamp: it adds YouTube music integration, a curated 100,000+ skin library, AI skin generation, and a Winamp-themed desktop environment.

Does SkinAmp work on mobile?

Yes. SkinAmp has a mobile layout — playback, skin switching, and YouTube search all work on phones and tablets.
